The training section of metal work is a critical component of Engineering Training Center in our college, which mainly covers all kinds of majors and contains practical teaching in basic manufacturing technology and modern manufacturing technology. More than 120 classes or 5000 students will come to take part in practice every year.

Team of Teachers

Now the section contains about 500 sets of instruments. And there are 27 teachers, including eight master degrees, ten bachelor degrees, one PhD candidate and three master candidates. Other teachers all possess related intermediate or advanced operating certificates.

Practical teaching

We continually explore new practice teaching method to form characteristics corresponding with school’s features. Except heavy routine works, we also guide kinds of competitions. The team guided by our section won first prize in the third Shanghai college students engineering ability comprehensive competition.

Main courses

The section offers the practice A, B and C in basic manufacturing technology, the practice A, B in modern manufacturing technology and the courses for excellence engineering class students, respectively. And there are 17 training work, which are turning, fitter, casting, welding, milling machine, facing machine, grinding machine, CNC turning lathe, CNC milling machine, CNC EDM wire cutting, CAD/CAM, five axis lathe, rapid prototyping, modern measurement technology, CNC engraving, slant bed lathe, and CNC turning center. Furthermore, the section offer three innovation experiments, two practice elective courses and two advanced courses.
